Larry Sass, the principal attorney at The Law Office of Laurence J. Sass, is the unique business attorney who is also an experienced trial lawyer and courtroom advocate. During his over thirty years of legal practice, Larry has helped corporate clients to confront and address countless issues and challenges across the legal spectrum in business deals, litigations and the day-to-day operations of their businesses. As a result, Larry has the breadth and scope of knowledge, familiarity with the multitude of legal fields and broad-based experience necessary to counsel and represent clients in virtually every aspect of their businesses, as well as their personal endeavors.
Larry began his legal career as a prosecutor for over eight years in the Kings County (Brooklyn, NY) District Attorney’s Office where he gained invaluable experience and insights litigating numerous felony and misdemeanor jury trials and hearings, presenting hundreds of cases to grand juries, authoring appellate briefs and handling every type of criminal case, including homicides. He also focused on long-term investigations and white-collar crimes for five years, first as Supervising Assistant District Attorney in the Economic Crimes and Arson Bureau and then as Counsel to the Public Corruption Bureau.
After leaving the District Attorney’s office, Larry continued his criminal law career while also practicing extensively as a business lawyer and civil litigator handling trials, appeals, arbitrations, mediations, settlements, judgments, discovery, subpoenas and all other aspects of the litigation process.
Larry also developed a niche practice as outside general legal counsel to emerging and established companies by offering flexible and cost-effective fee arrangements for businesses of all sizes to obtain on-call and as needed legal advice and guidance by phone and e-mail from a practical business attorney with extensive courtroom and trial experience. Outside general legal counsel services range from answering day-to-day legal questions, to discussing strategies to minimize or avoid legal obstacles and liability risks, to optimizing the Terms of Use and Privacy Policy on a business’ website, to reviewing and drafting contracts and other business, lease, employment or deal documents, and to representation in business disputes and legal proceedings and litigations.
Larry earned a B.A. degree (cum laude) from Brandeis University in 1981, where he was captain of the Men’s Swimming and Diving Team, and a J.D. degree from Boston University School of Law in 1984.
He is admitted to the state bars of New York (1985) and New Jersey (1990) and the federal courts in New York (Southern and Eastern Districts) and New Jersey. Larry has also been admitted pro hac vice to federal district courts in Connecticut and Colorado for specific cases in those jurisdictions.
